Alpha

Deans Alpha Programme – St Wulfran’s ran a mini Alpha programme in May/June with some of the other ‘Deans’ churches: St Margaret’s Rottingdean, St Nicholas Saltdean and Holy Cross Woodingdean.

Fr Richard comments: We have loved working with each other, making new connections and friendships,  sharing our faith stories  and growing in our understanding of God.  Between 35 and 45 people turned up to each session,  the food and cake were great and I’m so grateful to everyone who helped make the course such a success.  We will take some time to reflect on how things went, but our intention at this stage is to run another five sessions this time next year.

What is Alpha? Alpha is a wonderful place to come and learn about Christianity and ask questions. Equally, if you are a person of faith it’s a great opportunity to explore key areas of faith, learn from others and make new friends. The Alpha Course is ecumenical, with contributions for the Church of England, Roman Catholic (including the Pope), Protestant and Orthodox Churches, so you can come from any tradition and hopefully feel right at home.

It’s nothing like school or college (or church for that matter!) and involves watching a really well put together short film, followed by group discussion on your thoughts about the areas covered. There are no right or wrong answers…just the opportunity to explore and better understand.
