As a church, we want to protect our living environment, recognising that we are one with all of God’s creation. We are working towards an ‘Eco Church’ award through A Rocha
As part of this, we are looking at ways of making our church building and churchyard more eco-friendly.
A Rocha UK is a Christian charity working for the protection and restoration of the natural world.
An Eco-Friendly Church
We have signed up to renewable energy suppliers for our electricity and gas.
We have started up our own eco-campaign Cup of Love. We encourage everyone to bring their own re-usable cup when they visit us. If you have forgotten yours, we offer compostable cups for your coffee and tea from our Refreshment Trolley located at the back of church.
We are working to minimise our use of plastic as part of the ‘Plastic Free Ovingdean’ campaign. Recently we were awarded the Plastic-Free Award by Surfers Against Sewage.
We are thinking about ways in which ‘God’s Green Acre’ can be a blessing to all who visit St. Wulfran’s and we want to support the ecology that exists in the landscape here. We are attempting to establish a wildflower meadow in part of our churchyard extension (known as Daphne’s Field).
Hello from the Churchyard Working Party!
The Churchyard Working Party and our professional gardeners keep the grounds of the church beautifully tended. We love being out in nature and caring for our peaceful and picturesque churchyard.
