As a church, we want to protect our living environment, recognising that we are one with all of God’s creation. We are working towards an ‘Eco Church’ award through A Rocha
As part of this, we are looking at ways of making our church building and churchyard more eco-friendly.
A Rocha UK is a Christian charity working for the protection and restoration of the natural world.
An Eco-Friendly Church
We have signed up to renewable energy suppliers for our electricity and gas, we have switched back to using china mugs or compostable cups for coffee and we are working to minimise our use of plastic as part of ‘Plastic Free Ovingdean’.
We are thinking about ways in which ‘God’s Green Acre’ can be a blessing to all who visit St. Wulfran’s and we want to support the ecology that exists in the landscape here. We are attempting to establish a wildflower meadow in part of our churchyard extension (known as Daphne’s Field).
Hello from the Churchyard Working Party!
The Churchyard working party and the gardeners keep the grounds of the church beautifully tended.
If you would like to join in with the churchyard working party, they meet once a month on Saturday mornings from about 10 a.m. to 12 noon and we have a tea break with biscuits or cake at half time. Meet at the church entrance or just join in anywhere with doing some gardening. Come and join in with tidying, pruning, weeding and tending the beautiful surroundings of the church and make some new friends at the same time. If you have some of your own garden tools, then bring them along, otherwise, there is always plenty to share around, if you do not have your own.
